Teaching yoga for people in the third age (over 50) with Peter Burton

‘We are all of the nature to grow old. We are all of the nature to grow sick. We are all of the nature to die.’
~ The Buddha

As more and more older people join our yoga classes we need to be confident that out teaching is inclusive, safe and appropriate.

This participative workshop provides an opportunity to consider the human ageing processes that at some point are likely to affect all of us. We will be sharing our own experiences and insights about how we adjust our teaching practice to ensure yoga is a relevant and joyful for those with injuries, ailments and health conditions. This is not a chair yoga workshop but focuses on teaching yoga to older people who can still get up and down from the floor.

Peter Burton is a qualified trainer, teacher and coach who has been practising yoga for more than twenty years. Having practised many yoga styles and after qualifying as a teacher he now focuses on teaching people over fifty (the ‘third age’). He is national subject adviser for yoga with the university of the the third age (U3A).
