Nia is movement-medicine for the body and soul. The Nia Technique, created by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas more than 25 years ago, simultaneously addresses the body, mind, emotions and spirit and puts them on the 'same page' if you like, using music, movement and personal experience.
It is suitable for all levels of fitness and experience. It is ideal, in fact, if you have never danced or moved to music before! We actively invite you to get into your body, become body-centred and become present to yourself and to the moment. Connect to yourself and your own life force energy, and the sensation of 'joy'.
Nia stands for Neuromuscular Integrative Action and it combines a diverse blend of Eastern and Western movement forms:
Martial Arts: T'ai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido
Dance Arts: Jazz Dance, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance
Healing Arts: Yoga, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais
Classes are playful, fun and inspiring. Give your body, mind and spirit a global experience and find out how reconstructing movement habit can lead to great insight and physical health.
